Depart Moshi for a 3-hour drive to Londorossi Gate. Upon arrival, complete park registration and permit formalities while the trekking crew prepares equipment. The trek begins through rainforest terrain, covering 4.8 km in 3-4 hours, ascending from 2,389m to 2,785m.

Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira I Camp
Today's Experience
After breakfast, continue trekking as you gradually leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. This 17 km day takes 6-8 hours, gaining 1,110m from 2,785m to 3,895m.

Barranco Valley
Shira I Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Today's Experience
This is an important acclimatization day. After breakfast, trek across the Shira Plateau heading east toward Lava Tower, also known as the "Shark's Tooth." Distance: 10.1 km over 5-7 hours.

Karanga Valley
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Today's Experience
Start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but manageable and exciting section. This shorter 5.2 km trek spans 4-5 hours, gaining only 48m (3,986m to 4,034m).

Today's Experience
After breakfast, trek toward Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. The trail is steep and passes through barren alpine desert terrain, covering 3.3 km in 4-5 hours, ascending 628m to 4,662m.

Uhuru Peak / Mweka Camp
Summit Day – Barafu to Mweka
Today's Experience
Summit day begins shortly after midnight. Trek through steep, challenging terrain toward Stella Point on the crater rim, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa (5,895m). This demanding day involves a 5 km ascent plus an 11.5 km descent to Mweka Camp.

Moshi
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Today's Experience
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. The trail can be wet and slippery. Upon arrival, receive your summit certificate before transferring back to Moshi. This final 9.1 km descent takes 3-4 hours, dropping 1,473m from 3,106m to 1,633m.
